My Past
I first started web development in 1997. I was only 13, but was completely drawn to the computer screen. HTML was something that just came to me. Of course, back then, there wasn't that much to know, but I could work magic with notepad. With a high attention span along with a lot (probably too much) of Jolt Cola, I taught myself Microsoft Visual Basic, Adobe Photoshop, HTML, and Flash. This arsenal proved to pack a powerful punch when I entered high school in the fall of 1998.
I instantly was pulled to the web site design club which created and maintained the school's web site. I was a Visual Basic genius - so when I took Visual basic as a class and found out I knew more than the teacher, I ended up teaching the class and instantly received 100% in the class.
In the fall of 2004, I moved down to Orlando, FL, where I attended Full Sail University and majored in Digital Art and Design. I was able to experience the design industry at it's core - taking notes from some of the top designers in the nation. I met countless friends at Full Sail who moved all over the nation and I still network with today. I graduated from Full Sail in 2006 with a Bachelor's Degree in Digital Art and Design and since then have been in love with my line of work!
My Present
Currently, I'm living in Canton, MI and operating The Media Wiz, LLC out of Dearborn Heights, MI.
I am at a turning point in my life where I am making decisions that are extremely tough. With the economy nearly in shambles, it's hard to find steady work in Michigan. These struggles have caused me to look elsewhere in the U.S. Most of my time has been focused out west, as there is much more demand more media driven networks.
Personally, I have been enjoying watching the Detroit Red Wings dominate the ice this season. It seems no matter how bad things are, us Detroiters always turn to our sports (Yes, that includes the record breaking Lions!) I read an article by Mitch Albom recently titled The Courage of Detroit that really hit the nail on the head.
My Future
As for my future, I could not tell you where the world will take me. I wish I could predict the future, but alas, I cannot.
I would like to see myself as a successful Internet entrepreneur. Someone without worry of debt - as most of our generation has been plagued with this disease. I would like to be able to enjoy my life, not work through it.
Until then, I will just keep livin' it up, day by day - living in stride. Carpe Diem.
